The Kentucky Vineyard Society welcomes new members who have an interest in any phase of the grape growing and processing industry.  Our membership includes vineyard owners, winery owners, amateur winemakers, and others who have an interest in the grape industry.

We invite you to join the Kentucky Vineyard Society which promotes the grape industry in Kentucky.  It is a great place to meet others of similar interests, learn more about viticulture, and pass on your knowledge to others.

Below are are some questions and answers which may assist you in learning more about the KVS:

 

How do I join?

Print and complete the membership application, send it to the address indicated on the form and include a check with in the appropriate amount.

Are there meetings?

Yes.  In January, KVS sponsors a Grape and Wine Short Course at the annual Kentucky Small Fruit and Vegetable Growers conference. Three additional meetings are held during the year.  In the spring, KVS holds pruning instruction sessions; in the summer, a member's vineyard is the meeting site; and each fall, the KVS has its annual meeting and elects officers.

Is there a cost to attend the meetings?

The Grape and Wine Course has a nominal registration fee. The Spring Pruning Session, Summer Meeting, and the Fall Annual Meeting have registration fees to cover actual meeting expenses.

Is there a newsletter?

The Kentucky Vineyard Society has 4 annual issues. Each issue is mailed approximately 3 weeks prior to the meeting it announces. It contains articles of interest to grape growers and news of the wineries around Kentucky.  You may view the latest copy online by visiting the Newsletter Page.

 I would like help in making my own wine.

The Kentucky Vineyard Society is proud of its members' willingness to share expertise. The Kentucky Vineyard Society holds an annual amateur wine judging at the Fall Meeting.

I don't have a vineyard, but I enjoy wine.

Ownership of a vineyard is not a prerequisite to joining the KVS.  Our members include those who appreciate fine wine as well as those who are also interested in growing grapes and producing wine.
